Rapid non-Cartesian Parallel Imaging Reconstruction on Commodity Graphics Hardware

چکیده
Introduction In this abstract we advocate the concept of real-time non-Cartesian magnetic resonance imaging with minimal reconstruction delay. We focus on cardiac imaging although the presented techniques are generally applicable. Parallel imaging techniques such as SENSE [1] and k-t SENSE [2] have been available for years for realtime acquisition. Until now however, available reconstruction implementations have been slower than the speed of the acquisition by at least an order of magnitude, adding a significant delay between the acquisition and the subsequent display of images. In this work we have overcome this problem. We present a parallel algorithm implementing iterative reconstruction and display of two-dimensional non-Cartesian SENSE and k-t SENSE in less than the acquisition time on inexpensive commodity graphics hardware (GPUs).

GPU accelerated iterative SENSE reconstruction of radial phase encoded whole-heart MRI
Isotropic whole-heart imaging has become an important protocol in simplifying cardiac MRI. The acquisition time can however be a limiting factor when acquiring large field-of-views at high spatial resolutions. To reduce acquisition times, a three-dimensional (3D) acquisition scheme combining Cartesian sampling in the readout direction with a radial sampling scheme in the phase encoding plane, w...

Introduction: Iterative image reconstruction methods have become increasingly popular for parallel imaging or constrained reconstruction methods, but the main drawback is the long reconstruction time. In the case of nonCartesian imaging, resampling of k-space data between Cartesian and non-Cartesian grids has to be performed in each iteration step. Therefore the gridding procedure tends to be t...
متن کاملOnline real-time reconstruction of adaptive TSENSE with commodity CPU/GPU hardware.
Adaptive temporal sensitivity encoding (TSENSE) has been suggested as a robust parallel imaging method suitable for MR guidance of interventional procedures. However, in practice, the reconstruction of adaptive TSENSE images obtained with large coil arrays leads to long reconstruction times and latencies and thus hampers its use for applications such as MR-guided thermotherapy or cardiovascular...
متن کاملAugmented Lagrangian with Variable Splitting for Faster Non-Cartesian 𝕃1-SPIRiT MR Image Reconstruction
SPIRiT (iterative self-consistent parallel imaging reconstruction), and its sparsity-regularized variant L1-SPIRiT, are compatible with both Cartesian and non-Cartesian magnetic resonance imaging sampling trajectories. However, the non-Cartesian framework is more expensive computationally, involving a nonuniform Fourier transform with a nontrivial Gram matrix. We propose a novel implementation ...
متن کاملHardware-Accelerated Visual Hull Reconstruction and Rendering
We present a novel algorithm for simultaneous visual hull reconstruction and rendering by exploiting off-theshelf graphics hardware. The reconstruction is accomplished by projective texture mapping in conjunction with the alpha test. Parallel to the reconstruction, rendering is also carried out in the graphics pipeline. We texture the visual hull view-dependently with the aid of fragment shader...
